Student Alumni Ambassadors

SAA History
In the summer of 1982, students and alumni met and discussed the need for a student organization to be a liaison between students and alumni. From that meeting, the Student Alumni Association was organized and eventually began functioning in the fall of that year. Since that time, the orientation and program goals have changed and evolved into the organization we know today as the Student Alumni Ambassadors. This program is larger than ever and is sponsored by the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association.

Purpose
The main objective of the Student Alumni Ambassadors is to promote loyalty and fellowship among the students, parents, alumni, and administration at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The ambassadors strive to share their enthusiasm and commitment to the University with others.

The Members
The Student Alumni Ambassadors are composed of an elite group of students chosen from the student body. Ambassadors conduct themselves in a proper manner at all times to promote The University of North Carolina at Charlotte to the best of their ability. Membership opportunities are made available to all students.

Commitment
Membership in the Student Alumni Ambassadors requires much time and energy. Dedication and commitment to the program must be a major consideration. Meetings are held every Monday at 5:00pm and last approximately an hour. Community projects, committee meetings, and social events are also held at meeting times during the month. Ambassadors are expected to participate in various activities, and complete 10 event hours each semester. Additionally, a high level of motivation to achieve is expected from every ambassador.

Ambassadors are International
Student advancement programs such as the Student Alumni Ambassadors are found at over 300 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. International headquarters for the organization is located in Washington, DC, within the professional organization, CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education).

The International Convention is held each August or September. Colleges and universities within the organization are divided into eight separate districts. UNC Charlotte is in District III, the largest of the eight districts. Other schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida help compose District III. Our District Conferences are held each February or March.

The Student Alumni Ambassadors are also active in ASAP (Association of Student Advancement Programs), a unique CASE program run by students, for students, with the help of district advisers.
