Eleven students have been awarded Alumni Merit Scholarships from the Alumni Association for the 2007-2008 academic yera. The scholarship program recognizes outstanding, full-time, undergraduate students that have demonstrated academic ability, sound character, and University and/or community involvement.
Jason Early, Elizabeth Medlin, David Smith and Amanda Watson received $4000 each. Jennifer Fox, Brittany Hardin, Holly Hewitt, Boevi Lawson, Julie Muckle, Brittany Mullen, and Amanda Sunderland received $1000 each.
"I am honored that the Alumni Association chose me as a scholarship recipient, and I am grateful for their generous donation towards my education. I am extremely proud to be a UNC Charlotte student, and this scholarship gives me the freedom to spend less time working and even more time to enjoy being a 49er,” said Amanda Watson, a $4000 scholarship recipient.
Recipients were chosen by the Alumni Association from a combination of student applications and nominations submitted by UNC Charlotte faculty.
“Congratulations to all of our scholarship winners. We are extremely proud of them and know they will continue to be outstanding representatives of UNC Charlotte,” said Chip Rossi, director of Alumni Affairs.
The scholarship program is endowed by financial contributions of alumni and friends of UNC Charlotte, as well as through revenue-producing programs of the Alumni Association, with the goal of rewarding outstanding students for their academic achievement.
